This type of restaurant offers the traditional Brazilian barbecue - churrasco, which is made of whole cuts of meat that are skewed and barbecued in a “churrasqueira” constructed of bricks. The meat is barbecued and then brought to the table, in a service called a rodízio.
Passadores (meat waiters) wander the restaurant, each carrying a specific cut of meat. They arrive at your table with a skewer and each one can then either elect to take a slice of the meat or pass. For the inexperienced it can become quite an staggering experience as skewer upon skewer is presented to the table.
Various kinds of meat are brought around, normally various cuts of beef, pork, lamb, chicken, duck, seafood, sausage, or any other local types of meats. Make sure to try the barbecued pineapple with cinnamon and sugar!
