Museum of the Judiciary Catarinense
The Museum of the Judiciary Catarinense created in 1991, is installed in Hall Superior Court, seat of the State Court. Responsible for hosting the files, documents, books, weapons, furniture and fixtures related to the history of the Judiciary Santa Catarina, the sector aims to preserve and spread the memory of the institution. The collection comprises textual documents, iconographic (prints, photographs, etc.), furniture, and objects from the bodies of Justice Catarina since the late eighteenth century.
The most important document and also the first to make the museum's collection is the minutes of installation of the Court of the State, October 1, 1891. At the time, the seat of Santa Catarina Judiciary was in the building known as the Town Hall.
Old cases, official correspondence, a replica of legislation that created the court structure in the state, books, minutes of plenary sessions, are part of the collection, which also has 25 jurors voting sweepstakes that belonged to counties. Old photographic records of events and personalities that made the history of the judiciary may also be observed on site.
Among the routine activities are the restoration of historical documents and objects, cataloging documents, files and historical objects, making protective boxes of documents; inventory of historic photographs, digitization of historical documents and assistance to researchers and visitors.
