João Havelange Olympic Stadium - Engenhão

The João Havelange Olympic Stadium, also called, popularly known as Engenhão was considered a major project for the Pan American Games 2007 in Rio de Janeiro. Built to host the athletics events and soccer games of the Pan American Stadium is considered the most modern in Latin America.

Built on the old ground of the Federal Railway Network in Mill Inside, the stadium holds 45,000 people and can be expanded to 60 000. During the execution of works, more than three thousand jobs were created.

The stadium has 340 places for people with special needs, 64 lavatories, as well as security systems and fire fighting. With four ports of entry and exit, 38 and 72 roulette electronic ticket, the stadium was planned to be emptied safely in 10 minutes. Today leased by Botafogo FR (famous Rio de Janeiro Soccer Team Club), the Engenhão is considered the most modern stadium in Latin America.
