Brazilian Music - Brazil has a rich culture, and music is a large part of it.  Samba is probably the most well known Brazilian rythm, but it's not the only one.  We've compiled a short list of popular Brazilian Music.  We have tried to find examples where possible, and videos if available!

Brazilian Movies - Some fantastic movies have come from Brazil.  Their films are all in Portuguese and either subtitled or dubbed, although we prefer the subtitling because it leaves the rich accents and beautiful language in tact.  We have found a couple of our very favorite movies, and put them here.  Many have a great deal of violence, because poverty is an often filmed subject, althoug they all have very heart warming plots and very indepth.  Netflix has all of these videos, or support the artists even further by purchasing them and keeping them in your DVD collection!  You won't be disappointed.

Brazilian Food - Brazi is very large, and like any large country, has many different cultural dishes from each region of the country.  From the spicy northern seafood dishes, to the southern churrasco meat feasts.  Many restaurants sell by the kilo, so you'll be able to taste many many dishes where ever you end up.    Make sure to try at least one Churrasco style restaurant though!  You won't be dissapointed! unless you're vegetarian, in which case you'll just starve. (sorry!)  Actually, the Churrasco's have several non-meat dishes, include deep fried bannanas, which aren't a dessert but an actual course!  Barbequed Pineapple, and

Learning Portuguese - You will likely want to pick up some Portuguese before heading out on a Brazilian Vacation.  While many of the large hotels and big restaurants have English speakers, many smaller shops and services have very limited English skills.  Since Brazilians are so friendly, you can take your time explaining yourself in broken Portuguese!  It's a fun way to meet people and learn the language.  A book is fairly useful and we've tried all the ones we're recommending here!   Some aren't great, but these were well worth it!

Travel Guides - We are hoping that you'll have a good idea of where you want to go by the time you leave for your vacation, hopefully we will have given you many ideas on what you want to do, but if you feel the need to carry a travel guide with you, here are the best of the lot!  They'll give you fairly detailed information on most of the hotels, restaurants, best tourist attractions and what not to miss.

Brazilian Authors - Along with the rich music culture of Brazil, there is a rich written culture.  If you're in love with the country already, you might as well try and get into the heads of these artists, and enjoy their writing.  Many are known around the world!  You may have accidentally already read a book by a Brazilian Author!
