Maison de France Theater

Since opening to the early 50's, the Theater Maison de France PSA Peugeot Citroën was the scene of the major theatrical events in Rio and forever marked the city's cultural life.

THE PROCESS OF OPENING
Since then, several attempts were made to reopen the theater, without success.

In 1995, the former cultural attache of the French Consulate in Rio de Janeiro, Romaric Buel Sulgás encouraged the renovation and reopening of the Teatro La Maison de France.

This mission was assigned to the Office Molière, civil, non-profit organization whose primary goal was to remodel the theater, and later, his administration.

In 1996, the President of the Moliere Mr. Michel Oyharçabal succeeded, after a complex negotiation, the funds for the reform of the Theatre.

With the unfailing support of Mr. Michel Rama, the then head of the French Government for the buildings, the architectural project was initiated, given to Engineer Sergio Moreira Dias, whose firm designed the famous achievements as the Metropolitan, Claro Hall today.

The best lighting and acoustical experts were hired to improve the quality of the theater, the air conditioning system was installed to provide comfort and quiet and spacious dressing rooms were built with five toilets.

Due to new security standards, the ability of the theater was reduced from 500 to 353 seats and the stage enlarged.
The devaluation of the Institute in 1999 forced Molière to seek sponsors to supplement the available funds.
It was through the Law of Fiscal Incentives on Culture of the State Government of Rio de Janeiro, who participated in Light the height of 20% of the renovation project.

THE INAUGURATION AND THE OPERATION OF THE THEATRE
Opened on 1 February 2002 by the French Minister of Cooperation and Francophonie, the Theatre Maison de France PSA Peugeot Citroën began offering a varied program, with theater, dance, music, concerts, screenings, seminars and more. ..

The theater is also available for companies wishing to rent the space for corporate meetings and professional seminars. For this purpose, he was endowed with sound and lighting equipment of last generation.
