Centro Coreográfico da Cidade do Rio de Janeiro
The Choreographic Center of the City of Rio de Janeiro is an outfit dedicated to the development of dance throughout the city of Rio, with the objective of giving support to groups, artists and emerging companies, access to multiply the art of movement for children, adults, elderly and handicapped and reconstruct concepts of contemporary dance in partnership with research centers of musical public and private universities. The space offers a special program with performances and shows, plus free dance workshops.
A key finding of the Centre is the Choreographic Workshop Dance Company, created from the project's Choreographic Workshop, a "factory " of dance talent. The Centre has also enabled the expansion of various projects such as Rio Step Ahead, a dance work directed at young people from public schools in the municipality of Rio de Janeiro, and Collective Body, in which companies and artists in residence show stage experiences and research language.
