Parque Nacional da Serra da Bocaina

Parque Nacional da Serra da Bocaina located on the border between the states of Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo, southeastern Brazil. Created by Federal Decree in 1971 and comprises an area of approximately 104 000 hectares and an impressive biodiversity. The park headquarters is located in Sao Jose do Barreiro, State of Sao Paulo. It is administered by the Chico Mendes Institute for Biodiversity Conservation (ICMBio). It is estimated that 60% of the vegetation is composed of native forest (rainforest), and that the remaining forest is regenerated (secondary) for over 30 years. Among the flora species stand out the pines, pines, cedars, trumpet trees, palm trees and bromeliads. Among the fauna of the park stand out cats, sloths, deer, monkeys, snakes and birds. Its highest point is Peak Hat Strip, which reaches 2,088 meters above sea level, one of the highest points of São Paulo. The park offers a wide range of natural tourist attractions such as the Waterfall San Isidro, the Cachoeira das Posses and more inside the park, Waterfall Deer. The entrance to the park also marks the beginning of the final stretch of the Golden Trail, which stretches about 73 miles, and ending on the beach Mambucaba in Angra dos Reis.
