Trekking in Rio de Janeiro
To the supporters of the practice of trekking (Afrikaans word for hiking adventure) the city of Rio de Janeiro offers many miles of trails.
The former director of the National Park of Tijuca Forest, the diplomat Pedro da Cunha Menezes, is one of the advisers of the practice of walking in and around Rio. Shore of Sugarloaf!
This walk is a trail and pretty difficult, we have traveled a path that starts skirting the sea (Pista Claudio Coutinho), with a breathtaking view of Guanabara Bay and Niterói, and at one time, started up by stretches where often use their feet and hands and climbing equipment (level 3) for security, until reaching the top. 6 hours. Sugar Loaf.
This is perhaps the most beautiful walk in town. The view from the top of Sugar Loaf is simply unforgettable. The trail is tiring about 2 hours of climbing, with a passage that uses the hands and feet to climb the "holm oak" steepest part of the path. The most beautiful view of the city 842m above sea level. Lage / Christ the Redeemer - Path to the Wonder of the World!
Inside the Parque Lage, we have several tracks, among them, the most interesting, which connects the park to the top of Corcovado Mountain, where is the statue of Christ the Redeemer. (The park is in the region known as the "armpit of the Christ"). The trail is how difficult and requires heavy physical exertion, since we will bridge a gap of more than 600 feet in about 2 ½ hours of climbing. Duration: 6 hours. Minimum age: 14 years.
