Trekking in Rio de Janeiro

To the supporters of the practice of trekking (Afrikaans word for hiking adventure) the city of Rio de Janeiro offers many miles of trails.

The former director of the National Park of Tijuca Forest, the diplomat Pedro da Cunha Menezes, is one of the advisers of the practice of walking in and around Rio. He proposed including a trail that cuts across the state. His book "River Trail" presents the best treks in terms of visual difficulty and good maintenance of the tracks.

Specifically within the metropolitan area, the suggestions are the fastest track of Urca Hill and watch the sunset at the end of Sun's track Sacopã in Lagoa.

Great options for those starting out in sports. Even in the south, the trail of Sugar Loaf is almost obligatory for beginners and veterans. Along the way, one sees the sea and the highest peaks of the Tijuca forest.

The Sugar Loaf Mountain is one that has much to say as much attention at the end of the climb, when in some parts, it also uses up their hands, and during the path of ascent and descent, where burglars attend mainly trail on weekends. The tips are walking in groups, always with someone more experienced, or during the week.

The Tijuca Forest is nature's quintessential Queen City River Trails like the old trilogy "Pico da Tijuca, Parrot's Beak-Hill Cockaigne" will open space for dozens of opportunities to practice trekking, levels easy, medium and hard.

The infatuation is a crossing known as the Trail Major Foreign Archer, passing through 14 peaks over beautiful old tracks retrieved, it can be done in four parts of a day each.

And for those who can not stay away from the sea and want to walk, there is a good range of options, especially in the western area of the city like the tracks Guaratiba Bar, Praia dos Buzios, the Dangerous, the middle and bottom, all described in guide "Trails of the River" (Ed. Salamandra).

Always do a light warm-up followed by a good session of stretching.
