Teatro do Parque

Built by the Portuguese merchant Bento de Aguiar, who invested 200 contos and handed to your interior painters Henry Elliot and Mario Nunes. On August 24, 1915 the Park Theatre was opened with the presentation of the Portuguese Company of operettas and Magazines. But thanks to pressure from theater class, the mayor of Pelopidas Silveira expropriated and promoted a complete makeover. The inauguration took place on September 13, 1959, as part Where the Sabia Sings, directed by Hermilo Borba Filho. In 1973, an agreement between the city administration and the National Film Institute, the park was transformed into the first permanent educational cinema in Brazil.
