Encontro dos Maracatus

Nazare da Mata is known as the land of Maracatus. It is not just a dance, a play of the less affluent, but a tradition passed from father to son on the steps, the colors run through an acculturation of the ancient history of the region.

During Carnival, it's time the people of Nazareth Forest show its best: the colorful, the animation, the brightness and the beauty of their maracatus as Piaba Gold, Gold Star, and the oldest of Pernambuco the Brazilian Cambinda. The long-awaited meeting of Maracatus happens on Monday and Tuesday of Carnival, in the main square. More than 50 groups brincantes with their kings, queens, Bahia and caboclos spear dance and sing in honor of the deities.
Besides the Maracatu, the Carnival of Nazareth also has other carnival amusements like oxen, and trade blocks ciranda carnival. Another major attraction of the Carnival of Nazareth and Alligator in Folia Carnival Club established in 1956 which attracts thousands of revelers through the streets with electric trios, floats and costumes.
