Parque Municipal das Dunas da Lagoa da Conceição
In the neighborhood of Lagoa da Conceição lies the Parque Municipal das Dunas da Lagoa da Conceição which was created in 1988. With its 463 hectares, the formation of fixed and semi-fixed dunes between Lacemakers Avenue and Joaquina beach is very popular among tourists.
The neighborhood gathers beaches, dunes, mountains and the largest lagoon of the island. It is said that sandboarding was born in these beautiful dunes between Lagoa da Conceição (Conceição lagoon) and Praia da Joaquina. Out of the hills around you can see paragliders and hang-gliders everywhere. The dunes are the scene of the practice of other sports activities like walking in the numerous trails for eco-tours and mountain biking.
You can not miss a stroll through the dunes of Lagoa da Conceição, even if for a quick and exciting descent sandboarding, or a horse rinding under the full moon nights. The dunes between the hills of sparse vegetation between the Lagoa da Conceição, Joaquina and Campeche are already considered geological model of environmental studies.
Directions: from the center towards the east of the island. Follow in the direction of Lagoa da Conceição and then Rendeiras Avenue, main road access to the beaches of North Island.
