Parque Estadual da Serra do Tabuleiro
The largest unit of strictly protected areas of the state was created in 1975, based on studies of botanical and Robert Reitz Raulino Father Michael Klein, in order to protect the rich biodiversity of the region and the water sources that supply the cities of the Great Florianopolis and South State.
The State Park of Serra tray takes up about 1% of the territory of Santa Catarina. It covers areas of the cities of Florianopolis, Palhoça, Santo Amaro da Imperatriz, warm waters, St. Boniface, St. Martin, and Paul Lopes Imaruí. They are part of the islands of Siriú Park, the Cardinals, Largo, Andrade and Coral, and the archipelagos of the Three Sisters and South Foolish
The name of the conservation unit is borrowed from one of the mountains of the Park, which has a peak of tabular format, highly visible region of Florianópolis: Sierra Tray.
Located in a strategic region, unique and very special in the Atlantic Forest, State Park of Serra Board has a wide diversity of habitats. Five of the six major vegetation formations of the Atlantic Forest biome found in the state are represented in the Park. For this reason, it houses a greater biodiversity than their 84,130 acres would suggest.
On the coast, with strong maritime influence, we find the salt marsh and mangrove formations. The tropical rain forest, rich in epiphytes, covers the hills and occupies most of the Park. In the upper slopes of the mountain, shrouded in mist formed by the condensation of moisture that reaches the sea, appears to Matinhos nebula. In the highest parts of the park is present the Araucaria forest (Araucaria forest) and the fields of altitudes. Each ecosystem has its fauna and flora, as well as its dominant species. The coastal islands that are part of the unit also have their peculiarities.
Essential for the protection of the entire ecosystem and its biodiversity, the Mountain State Park Board is also extremely important for other motivos.Protegidas the lush greenery of the unit are the sources of rivers such as the Vargem Arm, and D'Una Cubatão . These rivers provide water for most households in the Greater Florianópolis and the south coast of the state. The park also acts due to its soil, topography and vegetation, an important climate regulator for these regions.
Within the Park area in Palhoça, is the Baixada Maciambu. This plain, which includes one of the most magnificent landscapes of dunes along the Brazilian coast, is composed of beach ridges in the form of semicículos resulting from fluctuations in sea level over thousands of years. The region is considered, therefore, important geological monument.
Due to its characteristics, the State Park of Serra Tray is an incomparable field of research. Located close to major urban centers, has an enormous potential for leisure, combining ecological tourism with environmental education.
The park has its headquarters in Palhoça, falling Maciambu. Its headquarters has a visitor center and educational trails, where the public can have contact with native species. The park has walking two thematic centers in the municipalities of Imaruí headquarters and St. Boniface.
