Etnológico do Ribeirão da Ilha Museum
The Ribeirão da Ilha - One of the first communities in the state and the first of Florianopolis to be inhabited in the sixteenth century by the Carijó. The name given to the beach comes from a small river or stream, located on the site (ribeiracô in indigenous languages). According to historians, the first Spanish and Portuguese sailors arrived around 1506. Twenty years later, the navigator Sebastian Cabot crossed the Atlantic and came here, and reportedly was at the Port of Ribeirão that Cabot would have docked. Between 1748 and 1756 was the effective settlement of the island, landing about six thousand islanders. Some authors report that fifty couples settled in Ribeirão da Ilha.
The church Nossa Senhora da Lapa do Ribeirão and the Ethnologic Museum of Ribeirão are some of the historical attractions of the place. The sea food restaurants specialized in fresh clams are a good option for the cooking experts.
