Parque Villa-lobos
Located in the district of Alto dos Pinheiros, in the west of the capital, the park Villa-Lobos is one of the best options for outdoor recreation in the city. The park, covering an area of 732 thousand square meters, a bike lane, courts, soccer fields, "playground" and woodland species of Atlantic Forest. The recreation area also includes equipment for gymnastics, jogging track, tables of "street basketball" and an amphitheater with 750 seats, toilets adapted for disabled people and a cafeteria. It is estimated that during the week about 5,000 people pass every day through the park. On weekends receives about 20,000 visitors and 30,000 public holidays.
Park Villa-Lobos was one of the first city to be adequate accessibility for people with special needs. The large flat area and the level paths make it easier to just moving people. Some of the wooden toys in the playground were also designed to ensure their accessibility, and a box of sand and a little house on the mountain, which allow access by people in wheelchairs. The Villa-Lobos also has a public telephone for the hearing impaired.
Children 8 to 10 years who visit the park now have a special place to learn about the environment: Environmental Villa, one of the spaces of Child Ecology, environmental education project of the State Secretariat of Environment.
With the intention of allowing park visitors to Villa-Lobos get more shade and other benefits of the vegetation, the trail was created "Go into the Shadow." The trail is made of pebbles and covers the major forests of the park. A good option for those who do walk or run because it reduces impact on joints.
The 1st Company of the 23rd Military Police Battalion was, since 1999, the park of Villa-Lobos temporary site at the premises of the old construction site. The current management of the SMA enabled a new permanent home for the effective of 160 men of the Military Police. The space includes room service, minianfiteatro, kitchen and cloakroom.
Visitors to the park Villa-Lobos have the privilege of the floor next to the birds know the "Tour of Trees". The elevated walkway, built with wood from reforestation, reaches 3.5 meters high and 120 meters long. Species of trees and birds are identified along the way, which has access for people with reduced mobility.
The newest headquarters of Villa-Lobos is in the box next to the cafeteria near the entrance that gives access to tennis courts. With 770 square meters, the administration has warehouse, workshop, kitchen, dining and locker room to park officials.
Orchid Ruth Cardoso
Visitors to the park Villa-Lobos will follow closely the beauty of orchids with the opening of the Orchid Ruth Cardoso, who goes by the name of the anthropologist as a tribute to the former first lady.
The visual identity of the Villa-Lobos will be renovated and enlarged to inform and improve their innovations and facilitate the location of the landmarks of the park.
A pleasant space, outdoors, music and comfortable. That's the idea behind the "Ouville," the park area where people can sit and relax on slopes, benches and chairs to the sound of works by Heitor Villa-Lobos, Brazilian composer who gives name to the park.
The Villa-Lobos Park is open every day - including week-ends and holidays - from 6 to 18h. In the summer time until 19h.
