Santa Casa de Misericordia Museum

The Museum of Santa Casa de Misericordia de São Paulo was founded in June 2000 with the intention of gathering the collection of part of the history of more than 400 years of the Brotherhood of Santa Casa.

It has a cultural heritage with paintings, furniture, photographs, certificates and diplomas, sculptures, plaques and medals and rooms devoted to medicine, medical apparatus and instruments.

The Museum of the Brotherhood of Santa Casa de Misericordia de Sao Paulo consists of more than 7,500 pieces of old documents, medical devices, furniture, sculptures, art gallery with great pictures of our providers, patrons and benefactors.

Today it features over 7000 pieces that illustrate the historical past and also some curiosities from the hospital and medicine, with emphasis on the Wheel of People Exposed to the records of 4696 children who received testimonials from men and women who were children of "Wheel" the electromagnet, a unit of the nineteenth century that it was withdrawing metal bodies of hospital patients, the first book of patients. 

The Chapel of Our Lady of Mercy is also part of the museum, with Gothic architectural style, was built later at the hospital, restored in 2004 and holds up to 180 people.

To visit the MUSEUM
1 - The museum is open from 9.00 am to 4.30 pm

2 - The Museum is not just for visitors and for research, the collection has no library;

3 - It is not allowed to enter with bags and no other volume that endangers the pieces of the museum;

4 - It is forbidden to photograph or film with or without flash;

5 - Not allowed to smoke or carry food and drinks in the exhibition space;

6 - Not allowed to scream and run at the museum;

7 - Not allowed to touch the objects and furniture on display;

8 - Not allowed to use cell phones in guided visits;
