Waves the whole year, Rio has one point for every type of surfer!
Stage of international competitions, the waves of the beach in Rio attracts amateur and professional athletes throughout the year. There is room for everyone. Even those who never climbed on a board need not leave Rio without experiencing the unforgettable feeling of gliding over the waves. Several small schools offer intensive courses all year, and will meet students at all levels.
Another modality that wins more fans every year is Stand Up, a mode where a large board and a paddle pull the athlete for the waves. The equipment is also used for sea crossings.
But for those who already understand the sport, just choose the point and fall into water. The options are many. Have fun.
Peaks
Harpoon: Beach with 800 meters between the Copacabana Fortress and Avenida Vieira Souto. Waves between one and two meters. A favorite spot for surfers in the southern city.
Bar-Means: Extending a mile in the middle of the beach of Barra da Tijuca, in the west of the city. Venue for the championships with waves up to two meters tall.
Macumba-Pontal: 2.6 kilometers long after Recreio in Pontal road near the campsite waves ranging between one and three meters. Good waves are also present in Recreio dos Bandeirantes Beach 10716. The place often gets surfing and bodyboarding championship.
Prainha: Protected by the Atlantic in the west of the city, has the coolest waves of the river and also the most upbeat guys. The look is surprising you. 700 metrosde beach are just jammed between two hills with waves reaching three meters in height.
Grumari: 2.8 kilometers of beach in Grumari. Waves between one and three meters. It is part of the same Atlantic Forest reserve that Prainha.
