Olinda Historic Site in Recife
Strolling the hills of Olinda is the best way to see the beautiful houses, churches, landscapes and still enjoy the city's climate. Start the Praça do Carmo and head toward the street Amparo, full of museums, art galleries, restaurants and the House of Giants Dolls, where they are stored for the puppets parade during Carnival. If it is a Sunday, go to the Largo Varadouro to circulate in the craft fair, and at fall, follow a parade of maracatu in the late afternoon.
Olinda is a city is a dream scenario. The streets, churches, houses tell the story of the country. What about being on top of a cathedral eating tapioca in the late afternoon and seeing all that beauty?
Walking in Olinda is a return to the past. It is an extremely charming and quiet place with beautiful landscapes and, when you least expect it, a policeman specialized in tourism walking to and fro at this well-policed place.
