Teatro de Santa Isabel in Recife
Eighteen of May, 1850, the then province of Pernambuco enters a new phase of its cultural life, with the inauguration of the Teatro de Santa Isabel after ten years of work. Eleven November 2002: Santa Isabel Theater reopens its doors after seven years of reforms, returning to the reference and choice of space for big shows.
The Teatro de Santa Isabel is now a monument of the 14 theaters in the country, recognized as National Historic and Artistic Heritage, a title he won in 1949. Her story has pages full of operas, dramas, concerts, comedy, oratorical tournaments, civic, and political, dances, parties and dinners. The St. Elizabeth has long been the scene of Recife, in all aspects: political, social and cultural rights.
In 152 years of existence, the theater has undergone three reforms. The latest began seven years ago and used funds of R $ 8.5 million. The neoclassical architecture of the early nineteenth century is now allied to modernity. The reform has made use of technology that allowed innovations in the structure of the theater and comfort for spectators. The original architecture is preserved, but new technological resources were deployed.
Handed back to the population by the city of Recife, the Santa Isabel combines tradition and modernity in the cultural life of the capital of Pernambuco. The hall to the dressing rooms, the galleries of the stage, the site hosts surprises as the cafeteria, with its design time, transports visitors a pleasant trip back in time.
