Maria Farinha Beach

The beach has shallow clear waters and small waves, which allow a person to walk several meters into the sea and not have the water not pass their waist, which makes it great for children.  Filled with restaurants and piers, Maria Farinha Beach is an excellent place for water sports, which will only expand as a project by the government of Pernambuco is working on turning Maria Farinha Beach into the largest nautical center in the Brazilian  northeast.   Currently water sports such as windsurfing, kayaking, scuba diving, snorkeling, and jet skiing are all actively done here.  At low tide, boat rides are offered to take visitors out to the caravels, small banks of sand and gravel that form natural swimming pools full of colorful fish.

Maria Farinha Beach is about 25 km north of Recife and the easiest way to get there is via the city of Olinda.   There are several beaches in this area, including Maria Farinha, Conceição, Pau Amarelo and Janga which are all located in the city of Paulista, along the northern coast of Pernambuco.   Nestled between the Timbo River and the ocean, Maria Farinha beach is roughly 4 km long, with white fluffy sand, bordered by coconut trees and mangroves.   This beach is located between Conceição Beach and Gavoa Beach.

Another attraction is the Venice Water Park with water slides and pools that children are always enjoying.  This is one of the largest water parks in Brazil.  Confirm operating days by calling (81) 3436-6363.
