Maracaípe Beach in Recife

Maracaípe Beach is known as a surfers' paradise, since it entered the calendar of national and international surfing. One of the rounds of the Brazilian Circuit of Surf happens in Maracaípe. Not protected by the reefs, Maracaípe usually has strong and high waves and clear waters. It is, therefore, dangerous for swimming. Its climate is young and relaxed. There are bars, five restaurants, hotels and a dozen more pouzadas but visitors of Maracaípe usually use the structure of Porto de Galinhas.

Maracaípe attracts visitors mostly for its natural beauty and extensive network of coconut trees. Access is made by car through a road that follows the sandy beach in almost all its extension until it reaches the All Saints Village with bars and restaurants practically in the sea.

In general it is necessary to be careful not to jam the car in some stretches of fine sand. It is not anymore allowed to ride buggies in Maracaípe, mainly in the outskirts of Pontal, because of the TAMAR project´s creation of sea turtles. Several turtle eggs are usually buried in the beach.

Location: between Porto de Galinhas and Enseadinha
