In the Tupi-Guarani, Itapuama means "beautiful beach". It is the ideal name for the beach, taking into account the natural pools of clear water, the rock formations of volcanic origin and the coconut trees that are part of the scenario Itapuama. The rough sea with strong waves used to be a point for surfing, but, because of sharks, the activity was forbidden. On the shore there are bars where you can relax in the presence of nature.

The beach is located between Barra de Jangada e Praia do Paiva in the municipality of Cabo de Santo Agostinho, 45 km from Recife. Itapuama offers a camping area.
