One of the most important Brazilian sociologists of all time, Gilberto Freyre, immortalized his thoughts and theories through established works such as "Casa Grande e Senzala" and "Mansions and Mucambos." His everyday life and way of living also remain alive by Gilberto Freyre Foundation, located in the Pernambuco student residence where he lived for many years.

The house, surrounded by an ecological ranch, remains as it was left by the sociologist. There are living objects, antique furniture, fine china, silverware and pieces of folk art. The writer's taste for art is represented in the art gallery consisting of works of Cicero Dias, Lula Cardoso Ayres, Di Cavalcanti and even Gilberto Freyre own paintings.
