Two small rivers flow into the ocean here, forming a shoal, or sandbar which is made up of sand and silt from the rivers. The wetland areas around here are made up of ocean sand making life easier for those who want a closer look at the vegetation and the inhabitants of the swamp, without bogging down in mud. In Boca da Barra beach when the tide is high, everyone should be careful as it is deep and catch people off guard, it's always good to check tide tables before crossing any river, no matter how small it may seem. The beautiful spectacle of here is worth it for anyone who has ventured through this area.
