Palace of Princesses

With neoclassical style, the Palácio do Campo das Princesas was so called during the visit of Emperor Dom Pedro II in honor of their daughters who were playing on the outskirts of the garden. Located in Santo Antonio, near the Republic Square - the scene of executions during the Revolution of 1817 - the Palace has undergone several reforms to reach its current form.

His first construction took place in the sixteenth century to house the Dutch colonial Maurice of Nassau. The Palace of Freiburg was regarded as the most impressive of the era with a botanical garden, zoo and the first astronomical observatory in Latin America. Demolished in the mid-eighteenth century, its reconstruction only began in the late nineteenth century, taking final form in 1922. Today is the seat of state government.

The building exudes elegance and good taste that can be seen in the decoration and furniture from the place.
