Forte dos Reis Magos in Natal
So called because of the beginning of its construction, the 6th of January, when Brazilians commemorate the Three Kings Day. Built with lime and whale oil by the Portugueses in 1598, this beautiful monument was responsible for protecting the city of Natal at that time.
Located in a strategic point on the river Potengi and the Atlantic Ocean, this fortress was the scene of major battles.
Its star format allowed to house cannons in its five points, making it easier, to defend itself from threats from all directions.
Currently, the Reis Magos fort serves as a museum, where tourists have access to Brazil discovery milestone where and you can also check the barracks, prisons, guns and a chapel with a well of fresh water that were used time ago by the Portuguese forces.
