The Mercado Municipal Adolpho Lisboa is one of the most important marketing local products. Inspired by the market of Les Halles in Paris, was the second market built in Brazil, opened in 1882. In Art Nouveau style, its structure is cast-iron and colored glass. Popularly known as Mercadão, is the main gateway of fisheries production and rural state. The Mercado Municipal Adolpho Lisboa, built overlooking the Rio Negro, in the heyday of the rubber, in art nouveau style, was officially inaugurated in 1882. Protected by the Institute of Historic and Artistic - IPHAN has a central masonry flag, flanked by two pavilions with structure in cast iron and wrought iron porch with tracery and stained glass. In 1906, the building was leased to the British company Manáos Markets, responsible for building the facades of the main street of bars and the two side houses of iron, for the sale of meat and fish. The contract was terminated in 1934 and the market returned to the municipal administration. Considered one of the most important centers of trade in regional products, in Manaus, the market is going through restoration, which should be finalized by mid-2010.
