Amazonas Theater in Manaus
It is the greatest symbol of Manaus’ economic peak. It has 700 seats and was constructed with bricks brought over from Europe, French glass and Italian marble. Several important opera and theater companies, as well as international orchestras, have already performed there. It is the main architectural heritage of the Amazon. The curtain was painted by Crispin do Amaral and decoration of the Hall performed by the Italian Domenico de Angelis. Listed as heritage on November 28, 1966, this building has capacity for 701 people in the audience and the cabin floor. After restoration in 1990 by the State Government, resumed its zenith with the creation of the Amazonas Opera Festival and the presentation in his stage show and popular classical dance, music and theater artists of local, national and international. Promotes and theatrical tours for tourists and communities, with characters of the time reviewing important facts in its history. It consists of 36 000 pieces of glazed pottery, and scales in glazed tiles, coming from Alsace. Koch was acquired in the House Frères in Paris. The ornamental painting is by Lawrence Machado. The original colored in green, blue and yellow are analogous to exuberance of the Brazilian flag.
