Maintained by the Congregation of the Salesian Sisters, the achievements of the Indian Museum in Manaus, consists of household items, weapons and ornaments of the indigenous tribes of the Upper Rio Negro. Its collection of 3,000 handmade pieces. The Indian Museum was founded in 1952 by Mother Mazzone. The nun's admiration of the Salesian Missions by indigenous handicrafts and utensils when traveling in the Upper Rio Negro, near the Pico da Neblina, made this idealized creation of the Museum. The museum was fully acquired in the Salesian Missions among the Indian tribes: Tukano Yanomami Wanan, Kobevva, Tariano, and this Macu. The materials exhibited different: cooking utensils, hunting weapons and war ornamental adornments and rituals, stuffed animals and crafts already cultured, divided into six rooms. It has a collection of 3,000 pieces. In the rooms are also exposed to different materials used in household appliances (work done by women or men. Also there are models of the Yanomami villages. The Museum contains a Craft shop where you can buy some Indian products, mainly pottery and objects liana.
