Gramado Zoo
Brazil gained a new zoo, the Gramadozoo. The park of Serra Gaucha, however, is not just a recreational touristic space. In operation since September 2008, Gramadozoo brings a new concept for the segment. Animal welfare, research, education and environmental conservation are the cornerstones that guide the activities of the enterprise. In lieu of crates and cages, bulletproof glass and huge ponds immersion faithfully reproduce the species' habitat.
Gramadense the zoo, endangered species receive special care for breeding and research. With veterinary hospital, nursery and special environments for the animals of warm weather, the zoo has a specialized team of biologists, veterinarians, and environmental educators provide visitors a perfect harmony between man and nature.
During the course of 1,200 meters from the zoo, the visitor receives information through the environmental educators, the illustrative plates with easy to read, that help the enterprise to fulfill one of his main goals: environmental education.
Another big news is the visitation at night, allowing a unique experience of observing nocturnal species, offering an entirely different segment.
To become a reference, were five years before opening the park to the public: three years of research and construction of two, which gives an idea of the care involved in deploying Gramadozoo.
With magnificent views of the valleys, the restaurant Gramadozoo - shaped hollow indigenous - has the capacity to serve over 200 people and offers the famous "Guabi" (crepe). The park also features exclusive product store that value the Brazilian fauna, where part of the amount collected is reversed for research and conservation of endangered species.
The park, which is 700 meters from the entrance porch in city's RS-115, available infrastructure, high level, fully adapted for people with special needs.
The Gramado Zoo has over 1500 species, with nearly 1000 of them being indigenous to Brazil. The zoo was opened in late 2008, making it the most recently opened zoo in Brazil. The zoo is based around the model of creating large open natural habitats for the animals, including large avaries.
