Monumento a Paz
In 1988 following a request of the Bahai community, artist Siron Franco created the monument to world peace. Made in an hourglass shape, the work is located in Grove Buritis West sector. In the center there is space where lands are placed in various countries. So far, sixteen countries are represented. The aim of the work is to show the possibility of union of all peoples around a project for peace throughout the world. The monument is five feet tall and weighs fifty tons. Constitutes an important tourist attraction for all visitors to the Grove, composing beautiful setting beside the lake. Australia, Israel, Netherlands, Ghana, Portugal, Sweden, Uruguay and the former USSR were the first countries to send samples of their soil. The hourglass carries the following caption: "The earth is but one country and mankind its citizens"
