These restaurants offer the normal Brazilian barbecue - churrasco, which is made of whole cuts of meat that are skewed and barbecued in a “churrasqueira” made of bricks. The meat is cooked and then served at the table, in a service called a rodízio.
Passadores (meat waiters) wander around the establishment, each carrying a specific cut of meat. They arrive at your table with a skewer and each one can then either choose to take a slice of the food or pass. For the inexperienced it can become quite an overwhelming experience as skewer upon skewer is provided to the table.

Very often, these restaurants also offer pao-de-queijo (similar to biscuit, but with a cheese infused bread. The bread is made of tapioca flour and cheese), and deep fried banana (typical Brazilian treats). They typically offer Brazilian desserts, such as pudim de leite (milk pudding), passion fruit mousse, quindim (a sweet treat made of egg yolk, sugar, and coconut), and brigadeiro (made of chocolate, condensed milk, eggs, and sugar). It is definitely worth saving room for dessert, if you can!
