Roughly five kilometers from downtown, Goiabeiras Beach is an urban beach with many sand dunes and thick dark coloured sands.  It is recommended to avoid the waters around the mouth of the Ceará River, as they are considered to be polluted.  The beach is nice none the less, and worth visiting during the hot summer days.
