Forte Beach
Located 25 km from the center of Florianópolis, the beach of Ponta Grossa, also known as Praia do Forte is only 90 meters long, is a sea of clear water and gentle waves and a very white, fine and soft sand beach. It is possible to penetrate into the sea by walking up to 220 meters. The beach retains the characteristics of calm waters, which resemble a large green swimming pool.
Previously, the site was exclusively for fishermen and not much visited, as access was only possible by sea or steep trails. Today the place has an incipient infrastructure and is beginning to attract tourists.
Forte beach is named after the Fortress of São José da Ponta Grossa located at its extreme right, and can be accessed by a small trail going up the beach. In primitive times, Praia do Forte served as support for local residents in fishing and in and out of boats. Currently, there are resort tourism, history and culture. It has also restaurants and bars.
