Campeche Beach in Florianopolis
Located on the east coast, Praia do Campeche is 15 lm from downtown and 10 km from International Airport Hercilio Luz is a beautiful beach with 5 km long white sand, crystal clear water in a heavy sea of emerald hues. Because of its location and the beauty of the place Campeche beach has had a considerable grown in the last 4 years. Fine homes and buildings have been built, making it one of most appreciated beaches of Florianópolis.
Just opposite, 2 km from the beach, is the Campeche Island one of the most beautiful of all Florianopolis. Caribbean-style beach, white sand, crystal clear and transparent, attracts over 30,000 visitors every year. In addition to its paradisiacal beauty, is an important archaeological heritage of the state. More than 100 petroglyphs, remnants of civilizations that lived on the island over 2000 years.
One of the most distinguished visitors of Campeche was the French writer Antoine de Saint-Exupery, author of The Little Prince. Fascinated by the beauty and tranquility of the place, Saint-Exupéry used to spend entire weeks resting and in contact with the natives. He was the commander of the French airmail Latecoere, which in the 20s was a Paris-Buenos Aires route, and used the beach as a landing field.
