Brava Beach in Florianopolis
With crystal clear waters, natural beauty and great waves for surfing and bodyboarding Brava is one of the most beautiful beaches in the vicinities of Florianópolis. It lies on the Santa Catarina Island far north coast, 38 kilometers from the center of Florianópolis. Northwest from the beach, following the coast, lies the Ingleses beach.
It has about 1.900 m long, and is inserted between two rocky headlands that form the tip of Rapa to the north and tip of the Witch to the south. Full of luxury condominiums, some hotels, inns and real estates, the beach can still exhibits its vast natural beauty in its two cliffs, visible even with aggression from the standpoint of city planning. It has some infrastructure to serve its visitors as restaurants, markets, bars and shops.
Directed to the northwest - southeast, Brava offers good surfing conditions, being exposed to the action of ocean waves, especially those from the east, being more sheltered from the southern quadrant of the ripples, which are predominant in the winter months. On days with higher waves it is necessary special attention when entering the sea to prevent drowning, as the name says: "Praia Brava" (rough).
Besides surfing, many other sports related to nature can be practiced in the region. It has good points for jumps with paragliding and hang gliding, provides good fishing at its shores, has trails of varying degrees of difficulty on their shores and good diving apnea can be performed right next to the shore, with proper precautions and care. Another healthy option is to walk on the sandy beach, enjoying the beautiful scenery. From Brava beach you can see the Arvoredo island part of the Marine Biological Reserve of the Arvoredo.
