The beach is the largest fishing nucleus of Florianópolis and one of the most sought after by tourists for its very clean and calm waters and a few waves. Amid its natural beauties there is a river that comes from the Lagoa da Conceição and ends up meeting with the sea of Barra. It's all very harmonious nature and fishing village.
Surrounded by azorean villages and buildings, the suspension bridge that connects the lagoon to the sea, is one of the main attractions of the beach.
In Barra da Lagoa you can find a very rustic bridge that leads to a small village on the hill, passing through lanes, where there is a perfect trail on the mountain that leads us to a wonderful view of the whole beach, just beautiful! The beach of Barra da Lagoa is very friendly, bustling, urbanized and is full of popular bars and restaurants.
During the month of July visiting the beach of Barra da Lagoa can prove that the best in seafood. The Festa da Tainha (Mullet fish Festival) is held next to the suspension bridge, a large structure built to welcome approximately 10,000 people. Besides the food with a strong presence of the mullet, visitors can check out the local crafts such as ceramics and photography exhibition, workshops, fishing net and bobbin lace, and folkloric shows and local bands. The dishes consumed are three versions of the mullet rock climbing, baked and fried. It is 20 miles from downtown.
