Justiça Militar da União Museum

The Museum of Military Justice has been reopened and is already open to visitors. The President of the STM, Minister Carlos Alberto Marques Smith, opened the ceremony, held on 17 and then gave the floor to his deputy minister Marcos Leal Azevedo, who led the revitalization project.

The reform, which lasted nine months, was conceived in 2007 during preparations for the celebrations of 200 years of JMU. This year, the first phase of the project began to be planned, as the change of the permanent exhibition, touring the creation and completion of historical research for the preparation of the biography of the ministers of the Court.

"Currently, different from how it was organized, the permanent exhibition presents visual programming, making it attractive and dynamic," said the director of the Directorate of Documentation, Maria das Graças Carvalho. It is divided into chronological order, containing the Colonial Period, Monarchist and Republican. "Thus, the Museum organizes and preserves the history that marks the Military Justice," the minister said Leal.

The works were the responsibility of the Bicentennial Commission and the Department of Documentation and Dissemination. Minister Leal, Maria das Graças Carvalho and Monica Magalhaes formed the organizing committee of the project. The museum staff, was the task of raising the biographical and historical JMU. The group that put the project into practice was formed by Diva Ferreira, Casandra Lopes, Mônica de Magalhaes, Hugo del Valle, Joao Ribeiro, Wesley Silva, Márcio Araújo, Marconi Rodrigues, Esrom Nunes and general service staff. Also participated in the project museologist Celia Corsino.

The Museum - The collection consists of about 400 items such as furniture, iconography, office equipment, medals and plaques, household items, books and historical documents, artwork, flags and audiovisual material. Besides being part of the complex history of walking.

Created on March 10, 1993 by Resolution No. 47 approved by the then President of the Court, the Minister Fonseca Erichsen, the museum was installed in the floor. As early as 1994, Minister Cherubim Rosa Filho, president of that year, moved to the second floor, with the intention of integrating it to the plenary and Gallery of Ministers. The inauguration of the Museum of Military Justice occurred the following year, under the management of the Minister Luiz Leal Ferreira.
