Belo Horizonte is the capital of the state of Minas Gerais and located in the southeast of Brazil, with a population of nearly 5.4M.  Belo Horizonte was a planned city in the late 1800's and was built on hills and surrounded by mountains.  This is a really beautiful inland city, with parks and natural beauty everywhere.  Smaller cities and municipalities surround Belo Horizonte, giving a tourist many options to choose from when sightseeing.  

Large open green areas, and parks dot the city, parks such as Pampulha Lagoon offer up locals and tourists alike a place to relax and enjoy the outdoors.  Nearby, is the Mineirão stadium, which the city boasts is one of the largest soccer stadiums in the world.   The national park of Mata do Jambreiro offers up a huge area to view local wild life, roaming freely.
