Debret Gallery
The love of art gallerist Diori Guimaraes led to continuing the work of her brother, the painter Mario Pinto Guimaraes, who died in 1997 and founder of Debret Art Gallery. Working in a house of 1899, the gallery was founded three decades ago.
The Art Gallery Debret promotes cultural meetings, lectures and art workshops with renown artists. It offers the public a library with collections of A. Balloni Arthur Frazão and other artists.
The founder of the gallery was born in the city of Santarem, west of the state and gained prominence in the 60s, with cutting-edge exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art of São Paulo (MAM / SP). In 1963, Guimaraes Pinto was awarded the painting "Song of the Square," Art in the Hall of UFPA, winning a scholarship to MAM in Rio de Janeiro.
During the period when he was in Rio Pinto Guimaraes was a student of renowned painters Domenico Lazzarini and Ivan Serpa. Currently, the artist's works are exhibited in museums in Brazil and abroad.

Art galleries are rare places in Belém. And even more valuable is to keep a space for artistic training and focused on free exhibitions of works by local and international no less than three decades. The Debret Art Gallery, opened in 1980, achieved the feat.
In the selection of fabrics, a walk through the path of production Pinto Guimaraes in their different phases, as well as rarities such as drawings, objects and works produced shortly before his death in 1997. "The exhibition features the classic works, impressionists, indigenous issues, drawings and puppets," says Guimarães Diori, sister of the painter and current gallery director.
A native of Santarém, Pinto Guimaraes began painting as in the 1940s, encouraged by his mother Angelica Pinto Guimaraes, also an artist. In 1963, the painter will live in Rio de Janeiro, where he delves into the avant-garde art, with the modernist masters as Domenico Lazzarini and Ivan Serpa.
