Aquario de Sao Paulo

The largest aquarium in Brazil promises an unforgettable experience. There are 60 thousand square meters divided into four sections: Aquarium, Freshwater, Paleontological Museum and Dinosaur Valley, all set in a themed scenery and realistic, full of perfect replicas.

Opened in June 2006, was the first Latin American themed aquarium, with more than 200 species. In 2008, celebrating two years of operation, the aquarium was presented with an expansion, to build the biggest aquarium in South America, with 1 million gallons of salt water.

There are approximately three thousand animals on display, including open ocean sharks, giant moray eels and other precious marine fauna, free swimming underwater in a cabin with huge windows transparent acrylic causing the visitor the feeling of being at the bottom of the sea.

Care for realism does not stop there: replica of a submarine during the Second World War and a sunken ship - built with giant screens and transparent roofs - complement the show, a theming is unprecedented in the world.

In the freshwater sector, the attractions are the fish and animals of the Pantanal and Amazon, and an authentic reproduction of the mangrove forests of the North Coast, with typical trees, red crabs, blue crabs and other elements.

The Aquarium of São Paulo also has a number of interactive features, beyond the Paleontological Museum and Dinosaur Valley, bringing replicas of giant creatures that inhabited the earth millions of years.

Tip: You'll shiver with the anaconda baby six feet long, marvel at the albino alligators, have fun with the penguins and wonder with the world's largest bats known as flying foxes.

Tour the neighborhood of Ipiranga
The São Paulo Aquarium opened in July 2009 a new entertainment option for visitors: a stroll through the historic neighborhood of Ipiranga, aboard a 1930's Dungarees. The course includes important points of the quarter, as the mansion of Richard Japheth, who was director of the General Mining Brazil Ltda. and president of Bank of Brazil between 1951 and 1952, the convent Mother Pauline, the Museum of Zoology, Independence Park, and Sunset Boulevard. Packed to the sound of music at that time, visitors are guided by a guide who tells stories and trivia about these points the neighborhood.
