Folclore Rossini Tavares de Lima Museum
With the departure of the Center for Indian Culture in 1993, the house has undergone restoration and conservation work being occupied by the Museum of Folklore "Rossini Tavares de Lima" in 2000.
The construction of the house of Caxingui, according to studies by the architect Luis Exit was in mid-seventeenth century. Its architecture into three sections, hipped roof and walls, rammed earth is quite characteristic of the houses Bandeirista, following a closed and rigid scheme, both in terms of construction and with regard to defining architectural, artistic and functional.
According to research on the origin of this house, priest Belquior de Pontes would have been its first resident. It is known, however, that in the late nineteenth century belonged to the family Beu and subsequently transferred to the Penteado family who eventually sold it to the City de Melhoramentos Company which, in turn, donated the property to the municipality in 1958 that began to recover in 1966.
In 1970, renovation works were completed and "Sertanistas Museum" was installed, directed mainly to the indigenous culture.
Until 1987, there were several exhibitions and displays with the Indian acquis that was there. This year the house was closed for maintenance works, thus interrupting the activities hitherto developed by the museum.
In 1989, through a decree of permission to use this historic site it housed the Center for Indigenous Culture of the Union of Indigenous Nations installing, then, the Embassy of the Peoples of the Forest.
