It all began in 1945 when the truck stick-to-macaw from several Northeastern states, came to Camp St. Christopher carrying migrants from northeast to work in construction, which had already guaranteed a place.
The meeting of the newly arrived relatives and other countrymen was animated with music and food in the Northeast, leading to the Fair of St. Kitts. During 58 years, the traditional Fair Field remained in St. Kitts, under the trees. In 2003, the barracks were moved into the old pavilion, which was renovated by the City Hall and turned into the Municipal Center Luiz Gonzaga Northeastern Traditions. Today, the Fair of St. Kitts has good infrastructure, cleaning and security, restrooms and parking.
There are about 700 permanent kiosks, which offer the various types of northeastern culture, cuisine, handicrafts, trios and forró bands, dance, popular singers and poets, suddenly and string literature.
The internal roads were given names of the nine Northeast states (Alagoas, Bahia, Ceara, Maranhao, Paraiba, Pernambuco, Piauí, Rio Grande do Norte and Sergipe). They were baptized with the names of artists, personalities and regional cities on stage John Valley, Jackson do Pandeiro and Pinto Monteiro and squares Padre Cicero, Frei Damião, Master Vitalino Cascudo Catolé and the Rock.
Today, the Fair is a success that attracts around 250,000 visitors per month, in an environment of social integration and approximation of people from different social classes, which meet to share the same taste for the Northeast.
From Tuesday to Thursday, the restaurants open for lunch.
