Caracol Park is around 5 miles outside of Gramado, in the town of Canela. The main attraction if the water fall, which the park is named after. The park is very large itself, has a small childrens train ride, a restaurant, and lots of trails and open space. The water fall is called 'Caracol', which means 'snail' in Portuguese. Water plumments 131 meters to the base of the river, which also has an observation deck at the bottom. Among the various attractions of the park, the ecological staircase to the base of the observation deck is the most visited, with it's 927 steps. The park has a gazebo, which is over 150 feet from the base of the waterfall, providing a landscape of rare beauty. It is a long ways down, and definitely great exercise! Especially if you've just come from Downtown Gramado and been eating all of their local chocolates! Getting down is easy, just remember you have to walk back up those 900 stairs! The walk is well worth it, with lots of stops along the way and a fantastic view at the base!
