Description: Mercado dos Pinhoes
Made in France, and inaugurated on April 18, 1897, this former meat market was imported piece by piece from Europe. Mercado dos Pinhões has been refurbished and currently provides a place for many local artists to sell their handicrafts. Located at Praça Visconde de Pelotas and Praia de Iracema, this market is roughly two blocks inland from the shops at Rua Monsenhor Tabosa. The direct translation of Mercado dos Pinhões is Pine Market, however you might still find some references to it's old name, Iron Market.
