Description: Pepe Beach

This beach lies along the avenue of Pepe in the district of Barra da Tijuca, and is aptly named Pepe's Beach.  The beach and promenade named after the sportsman and businessman Pedro Paulo Carneiro Lopes Guise, known as Pepe.  This is the first beach you would run into, if you were coming from the south zone.   Frequented by young people, surfers, and kite flyers. 

White sand, and green waters frame the almost two kilometers of coast here, while smaller buildings allow the sun to shine from sunrise to sunset without being blocked by high rise buildings.   Look out for the Pepe Tent, which serves sandwiches and juices to visitors along the beach.   The restaurante is well known because it was created by the champion of free flight, Pedro Paulo Carneiro Lopes, who died in an accident in 1991.
