Museo de Arte de Brasília - MAB - was created in 1985 by the Federal District Government, initiated by the Department of Education and Culture, which has gathered in its facilities, hundreds of works of the production of modern and contemporary visual arts, from acquisitive awards of grants and halls of local and national. Occupying a built area of 4,800 m², the Museo de Arte de Brasília - MAB is situated on the shores of Lake Paranoa in Hotels and Tourism Sector North, between the Concha Acústica and the presidential palace. It consists of three floors: ground floor, upper floor and basement. The collection of the MAB is made up of works of modern and contemporary art, ranging from the 50's to 2001, characterized by the diversity of techniques and materials, paintings, prints, drawings, photographs, sculptures, objects and installations. Currently, the museum is under construction. Therefore, it is not receiving visitors. The collection is at the National Museum. It consists of three floors: * ground floor gardens, a permanent exhibition of sculptures of the collection, a gallery space (temporary exhibitions) and cafeteria; * upper deck, a permanent exhibition of sculptures, paintings, prints, drawings, photographs, installations and objects of the collection, Gallery Space 2 (temporary exhibitions) and multipurpose room. * Underground: technical reserve. The building, dated 1960, was designed by architects and built in Novacap pioneer period of the capital, following the standards of modern architecture, by its volume and prevalence of spans. The building housed initially the Armed Forces Club and, later, the Mansion of Samba.
