Our Lady of the Presentation is the patron saint of Natal, and the festival beings on November 21 of each year. The festival begins with a Mass at the Rosary Stone, followed by a procession through the streets of Downtown Natal, which then ends at the New Cathedral where a secondary mass is held. It is coordinated on behalf of the Archdiocese of Natal, which receives support from the municipal government for the event and procession through the city.
November 21 is considered the starting date for the festivities of Christmas and is also a municipal holiday. The next 10 days are followed by popular live music, kiosks selling typical foods, an amusement park for the kids and it all happens at the Metropolitan Cathedral.
