Located in the headquarters of the Holy House of Mercy, a seventeenth century palace, between the Cathedral Square and City Square. It was inaugurated on January 28, 2006, adding value to the cultural scene of the historic center of Salvador, one of the main sights of the city. The museum displays works from the seventeenth century to the present day and continues the social project of revitalization of the central region around the Santa Casa de Misericordia da Bahia, the museum's supporting institution.
