In the city of Rio do Fogo, north of Natal, we find Zumbi Beach with its wild beauty, and typical fishing village settings.  The area is great for fishing and hence the fishing village, but has limited infrastructure making it more of a place to relax without the busy streets or beaches typical in urban settings.  Because of the serenity, it's been a great location for the Termas Center Spa, which is located here and offers up resort style vacations.

The city has 3000 inhabitants, includes basic services and is very quiet and peaceful.   Zumbi Beach is also nearly 70 kilometers north of downtown Natal.   Don't forget to give some of the dune buggy tours a try here, or for those looking for a souvenir, the Vilarte Artesanato is a great place very nearby that has several kiosks and stores selling hand crafted goods. 

If you're around during Christmas time, in this area are also some of the better Christmas festivals, decorations and celebrations.
