Lake of the Piranha, Sustainable Development Reserve (RDS) is located in the municipality of Manacapuru, Amazonas, 110 kilometers from Manaus. The Piranha Lake is characterized as a priority area for conservation of the National Ecological Corridors Project, created in order to protect the rich and delicate ecosystem of the floodplains, to promote sustainable development and improve quality of life of local communities, while offering A great potential for research, ecotourism and environmental education.

The RDS Piranha has 103 000 hectares representing 14% of the municipality of Manacapuru and is located on the left bank of the River near the mouth of the Manacapuru River.

It has a floating hotel that, besides using the manpower site, is the first in the region with water treatment and sewage.

The Reserve is a migratory route and breeding birds such as the egret, the jabiru, the Jacana and duck weed. It also has a variety of fish, especially the exotic pleco-Bodo (Loricaria duodecimal).

The vegetation of the region is typically a lowland, which forms a flood plain subject to seasonal flooding.

Plant species most common are: samaúma, assacu, Axixá, grass and clusters of palm trees.
